Every song that Stevie performed was outstanding. Glad to see musical genius electrify the night. Winwood commented on the cool evening air of the Milwaukee night. Santana watched Winwood perform, nodding his head to the rhythmical charm that Stevie enchanted the crowd with. Winwood's guitar solo on Dr. Mr Fantasy will last a life time for me. I'm a Man was the first song he performed, and played without flaw for the entire set. He started "I'm a Man", right at showtime, walked up to the Hammond, and just wish Santana would have joined in.
Steve was great at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Agree with the comment that it was 70 min. of bliss. Dear Mr. Fantasy and Can't Find My Way home were fabulous. Thank you Steve!
Went to July 4th. in K.C. I thought Steve would be Headlining. but he was Awesome anyway! (as always) Glad to see him before it rained, and left shortly after Santana started. Wish he would have played longer, and more old Steve on his own. Loved the Traffic and his new stuff! Some "Don't you know what the night can do". " Dust", or anything from "Arc of a diver" would have been Cool, but he was GREAT!!!!! I've seen him a lot, and looking forward to the next one!
Stevie was superb.
Carlos was disappointing to me. Reminded me of Albert King's article in guitar magazine 1992 ish where he stated "Guitar players are good when they feel the music and don't get lost in their ego" paraphrased somewhat. Albert King said he thought Jimi did to many drugs but was humble.
Ted Nugent was to arrogant, and that's how Santana came across, especially with the machismo vibe of the lead singer, i didn't come for aerobics
My girlfriend and I went to the concert in Arnhem and also spent a week in Amsterdam. Had a wonderful time but was disappointed about my tickets for the Arnhem show. I joined the club, bought tickets that were promised to be in the first 20 rows and found it was general standing only. The show was very good but the expectation vs reality thing really sucked!

Been going to Carlos' shows since 1970 but especially looking forward to this summers show with Steve. This show will be cooking by the time they get to Atlantic City. Whew Can't wait !!

Santana whips up a world of rhythms !!
When you don't see him for a while, it's possible to forget what a groundbreaking musician Carlos Santana truly is.
If anyone at the packed Marcus Amphitheater needed a refresher course Thursday night, Santana delivered a multimedia seminar.
For starters, of course, he brought Latin music and, more specifically, the propulsive rhythms of Afro-Cuban music into the rock mainstream, laying the foundation for the inclusion of world music in the broader stream of rock and pop.
Those currents are evident on every front with Santana. They're there in the dynamic African dance rhythms (illustrated with tribal dance scenes, in case anyone was missing the point) of "Jingo." They're there in the foundational hit "Oye Como Va," in which he blended the Latin band sound of Tito Puente into the rock palette.
"Oye Como Va" illustrates another innovation. Santana was and is a leading force in jazz-rock fusion. In doing so, he also pioneered the jam-band movement, with its elongated song forms and solos. (Personally, I will acknowledge the achievement but hold my applause on that one. Strong percussion is part of the bedrock of Santana's sound, but for this listener, the defining quality of really long drum solos is that they are really long. Of course, the Marcus was full of people Thursday who would dissent.)
One of the things overlooked about Santana is that he expanded the sensuality of rock. Perhaps the song is so familiar that this is overlooked, but "Black Magic Woman" steams with the heat of an erotic trance.
Of course, Santana is also on the short list of the all-time great rock guitarists, a fact affirmed on a song-by-song basis Thursday night. And he can lay claim to one of the great comebacks in rock history, demonstrated by the cross-generational audience and the inclusion of the 21st-century hit "Maria Maria."
Opening for Santana was Steve Winwood. Strong opening acts have been a hallmark of the Marcus slate this year, and Winwood may have topped the warm receptions given Roger Daltrey and ZZ Top.
Winwood has worn a lot of guises in his career: driving blues rocker in the '60s, pioneer jam-band artist with Traffic in the '70s, and neo-soul man in the '80s. All went over well Thursday, with three separate standing ovations. Forced to pick a favorite, I'd go with the closer: "Gimme Some Lovin'," from his teenage days with the Spencer Davis Group. That driving organ line is still one of the great riffs in rock history.
Steve did a good job,,,nice set here in Milwaukee ,,,,,,,,a little disappointed when he didn't come out for a oncore but over all music I thought was better than the Santana set.
Steve put on an exceedingly enjoyable show at the Xcel Center in St. Paul 6/30. I like Santana but we enjoyed Steve better than Carlos. To bad they had had the volume throttled back and no video screen like Santana had.
If you are a Winwood fan I would highly recommend this tour, a great set list, and 70 min. of pure bliss.

Steve on the Hammond was unforgettable and his vocals were very, very, good.
Very much enjoyed the performance @ Xcel June 30. Would have loved the experience of seeing both Carlos and Winwood on stage together. Seemed like there was a perfect opportunity when Carlos covered an old Cream classic. Love the sound of that old B3. The drumming in this show was very beautiful.
